Traffic delays on 95

Radio traffic reports indicate that southbound I-95 is backed up from the White Marsh Blvd. area due to an overturned vehicle. Based on what  I saw as I crossed it on the way to my train, Belair Rd., one of the major alternate routes around that mess, is experiencing heavy traffic and backups as a result.

No MARC reports of delayed trains today so far.

Afternoon Commute

No current MARC delays - MARC 853 was delayed earlier.

No DC Metro issues aside from Nuclear Security Summit disruptions.

How’s the traffic been this afternoon in Baltimore and DC?

F Street closure for the Nuke Summit

F Street NW between 14th and 15th is closed due to a security lockdown that is most certainly for foreign dignitaries staying at nearby hotels.

Morning Commute Update

So far, there has only been one MARC issue this morning - that was MARC 870 near Point of Rocks on the Brunswick line around 5:30. There don’t appear to be any follow-on issues related to that delay.

MTA reports no other delays.

Don’t forget, DC in the Mount Vernon Square area is a total mess today and tomorrow due to the Global Nuclear Security Conference. One issue not many people have touched on is how this will affect commuter buses (including MTA Commuter Bus) coming in from the Virginia and Maryland suburbs.

Traffic.com reports no current hot spots in Baltimore and. aside from the conference downtown, there is one area of concern in DC now on their traffic map. There is a truck fire on the Outer Loop of the DC Beltway approaching Old Georgetown Road.

UPDATE: Penn Line MARC Train 415 ended up being delayed at Odenton later on.

A flashback from 2009 - this is video of the platform at Union Station as MARC Penn Line Train 503 arrived around 6:30 a.m. one morning. I videotaped the train arriving from inside the car and then my walk down the platform, through the station and to the Metro platform.
