Union Station this morning
When the MARC train I took this morning rolled into Union Station (in DC) shortly before 6:30 I noticed a few things, when taken together, seemed out of the ordinary.
1. There was a uniformed police officer wearing what I think is called a NY-style police hat. He had a patch with the Capitol dome on it. If I remember correctly, that makes him DC Metropolitan PD. He seemed to be looking for someone.
2. 4-5 guys in polos, khakis and bulletproof vests with sidearms in the hallway across from Sbarro near the pretzel place. They looked like they were waiting for something or someone.
3. There seemed to be more rent-a-cops around including one at the top of the escalator near B. Dalton and another at the bottom by the food court. This isn’t so odd unless you tie it together with other facts.
4. As I walked into the Metro station and prepared to turn the bend to go toward the fare gates, there was a guy with short hair and wearing a suit standing at the farecard machines. He had his back in a corner so no one could get behind him. The nearest farecard machine to him was in use, but there were plenty of other working ones available. As he stood, he had a clear view of everyone going in and out of that Metro entrance.
I’m wondering what people who went down the hallway past the Amtrak Police office and to the Metro entrance on that end saw.
